Case Studies

Screwfix

When PDSI were asked to get involved in the supply and installation of signage to new Screwfix store developments we jumped at the opportunity to demonstrate our skill set at delivering intensive roll-out programmes.

Product and services supplied included external wayfinding, flex face boxes and window vinyls on a rolling average of 30+ sites per year.

PDSI carry out site surveys, put together visual documentation and arrange the sourcing and production of all signage which is then installed.

McColl’s

In 2020 PDSI were approached by a 3rd party to aid in the design, production and installation of signage, way finding and graphics at the McColl’s Head Office in Brentford.

Types of signage included tray panels and car park signage as well as internal wall graphics and suspended signs. We also oversaw the development of a typical store within the Head Office itself.

Many of the elements were bespoke and required design and specification detail in order to provide the client with a clear understanding of rationale based on their own outlined requirement.

Grange University Hospital

Hospitals are always challenging environments to work in – particularly given their size, complexity and volume of required way finding – however PDSI were determined to apply their knowledge and expertise to the project.

PDSI began on site in Oct 2019 and worked through to May 2020 with signage extras taking us to ultimate completion in July 2020. We supplied and installed all internal and external wall, post mounted signs, wall graphics and illuminated external signage.  Just under 5000 signs were installed in total the breakdown being: 217 external, 2304 internal way finding, 2336 internal safety signs (fire, etc)

PDSI supplied and installed all signage ahead of schedule ensuring the hospital availability for the first lockdown in 2020. Total completion of the whole project was Nov 2020 although we have recently been approached to supply more way finding.

Huber Car Parks

Our expertise in supplying simply but effective way finding solutions is showcased with our involvement of Huber Car Parks at both Wembley and Dunstable.

Typical signage included simple tray panels and vinyls but we were also tasked with the painting of walls and using templates to outline the parking bay tiers.

PDSI carried out a walk round with the client to identify what was required, where and what information should be depicted to ensure that visitors knew exactly where they were going and to avoid confusion. The colour pink aided hugely in ensuring that signage or graphic was highly visible to those using the parking facilities.

Swimming Pool

Certain installations can sometimes prove a little more challenging as demonstrated with our install of a flex face on an elevation directly above a swimming pool! Solution?

Set up a mobile scaffold in the pool itself and install the flex face taking all standard safety precautions but wearing swimming trunks!

PDSI ensured that all necessary risk assessment and method statements were submitted as well as having someone responsible for the health and safety at the pool supervise the installation at all times.

Dell

PDSI’s experience with installation services abroad can be demonstrated perfectly with our involvement with the Dell signage installation – which included 2 locations – Paris and Montpellier.

Signage types included roof top built up letters on a frame and elevation signage requiring specialist access equipment for installation. All necessary paperwork was sought and filled out to ensure that the installation went smoothly and without any issues.

All signage was sent on ahead using appropriate transport and the install engineers travelled to site in their own vans to ensure the safe unloading of signage prior to install.

UK Storage

PDSI were approached to initially supply signage to two sites – Leeds and Telford – incorporating di-bond panels with applied vinyl and internally illuminated flex boxes of various sizes.

Considering the brand colours of blue and orange, part of the remit was to ensure that the flex skin was illuminated as vibrantly as possible. Various samples were produced for client approval based on day/night and triple pass printing (where the skin is printed 3 times to ensure depth of colour particularly when illuminated).

Once approval was obtained by the client, production began of the 14500 x 2500mm, 10000 x 2000mm and 3660 x 36600mm flex boxes.

“We worked closely with Malcolm at PD Signs to achieve the vibrant colours we desired at our Telford storage facility. Malcolm was able to provide samples and we are very happy with the end result.”
